Roundup part 3: Great ocean road

DARY!

anyways, welcome back!

So in this part I will tell you what we did during Emmys last day in Melbourne! Late the Sunday night, after the diving, Emmy decided that we should drive along the great ocean road on the day after. Said and done Melanie was kind enough to drive us and show us around. It started out as an early morning, I was pretty much the only one who had some sleep that night, at 7am and we drove off to campus to pick up Lauren.

As you can see in the pictures we were very excited to go :)

We drove off and took a quick visit to Melanies hometown, can't remember the name of it now but it's just outside of Melbourne.. I think

Very pretty little town, we arrived just as it woke up and had us some breakkie and coffee. We drove around for a bit and headed off for the great ocean road!

As we only had time to do a one-day trip we decided to go to Lourne and the waterfall park near there.

The view from the car on the way there was very nice, it's so weird that we haven't that much outside of Melbourne. At especially Andy and Emmy!

Maybe not the best picture of it, but still ;)

When we arrived to Lourne we (mostly me) made a lot of puns because Lauren was with us (Lourne ≈ Lauren) such as "look at all those kids, playing in Lauren/Lourne" you know.. :)
We stayed for a quick toilet visit and a stretch of legs, and then we gathered our strengths and took on the challenge of getting to the waterfall!

Lauren and Emmy in Lourne, a Laurnception if you will!

Not as dramatic as I suggested it was, just some steep hills that the precious Volvo didn't really want to climb but it did anyways! Good Volvo!

You would think that we actually read this sign, we didn't so I know nothing about the place more than I saw when I was there.

It was an astonishing nature and very beautiful indeed, some tourists but not that many more than us.
So here's some pictures of it:

isn't this misspelled?

A word that if I remember correctly is about falling trees or something..?

The gang!

WATERFALL!!

The non-separable girls

Andy is excited

Trying to look normal

oh no you don't we're not done yet!

We started walking along the creek instead of heading to another place, very adventurous of us :)

I miss this crazy old woman (she's two days older than me) already!

Obviously the swedes were in the front of the trekking..

After we decided to go back, Andy mistook water for ground, we went back to Lourne and went out on a pier and just watched the sea for a bit. Then we headed back home so we would have time for a goodbye dinner with Lauren and Emmy. I drove back because Melanie was sleepy and I offered myself to drive, I love driving.

when finally back in Melbourne we made ourselves ready and headed down to Stollies for dinner, had a few drinks in Fitzroy and headed home.

It was a great day with many laughs and a lot of adventure, kind of a pre-taste of our road trip that is just around the corner!

HUGS!

Roundup part 2: Last diving with the club

Hey gents and gals!

I decided in the last minute of last thursday, the 17th if I remember correctly, to go diving one last time with the club (at least for now). They were going to do an advance course and had some space open for other divers as well! Lucky me!

So me and Tadd went down a bit later than planned, apparently the drivers were going to be late. We arrived at 11.30 am, the others got there by 2 pm which is when we had planned to start diving. But there's no need to cry about that, so we just dealt with it, packed in the gear and went off ASAP.

We arrived in Rye around 5pm and me and Danish Dennis decided to just do the night dive due to few tanks and the others were doing the course so we went for a beer run and chilled out for a bit, helped out. Had a beer and some food and so on ;)

The night dive was really nice, warm water, lots to see (for me that is, the dane got the crappy torch). We saw some octopus, squid, stings, globe fish and what not. We turned off our torches at some points just to experience the dark around us, it was amazing! I can't remember what it is but when we moved in the dark we could see some glowing dots in the water following our motions, pretty cool! We were in there for an hour but had to end the dive because we needed to pee...

Afterwards we packed our stuff and headed back to Toms cabin for a few drinks, food and a good time! A nice evening indeed!

The day after we were going for a boat dive, unfortunately we missed the tidings (don't ask me how it works because I have no idea... only certain hours of the day makes the reef out there diveable) so we did a drift dive instead! For me that was actually more interesting because I've never done that! It was definitely a cool experience, depth changed a lot during that dive, saw a really big and strange ray (it had some sort of nose?) and mostly crabs. But the fun part of these dives is that you pretty much just let the stream take you forward. We were all hanging on to a rope that was attached to a boyo on the surface so that the boat could find us during the dive. The most astonishing part of this dive was the incredible visibility, around 30m+!!

All in all I only did two dives that weekend, but they were both really good! Can't wait to finally get do dive with my wonderful Carolina! It's going to be LEGEND.... wait for it....

Roundup part 1: Exams

Hey there fellas!

I haven't written in a long time, sorry about that! Been busy... ish

Today is the final day of the exam period, although I have been done with my exams since the 18th. I had some troubles to what to study on in most courses, since it was very unclear. But I got the hang of it on most courses. Hopefully I did well on them all! All I need is a pass anyways, A's won't transfer to the Swedish system anyways so it doesn't really matter what grade I get as long as I pass!

The exams themselves are different here than in sweden, they are all forced into about two weeks and with four different courses in that amount of time to do exams on... It gets confusing to say the least!

In any case they're done now, so it doesn't really matter anymore, nothing can be done by now! It's all in the teachers hands.

We celebrated by going out that very night, ended up in different places in the city. Sadly we didn't find a good club/bar but I had a good time anyways, all you need is good friends you know.

These times are the sad times at Uni, all new friends I've made here are going home or starting their travels. Most of them I will probably never see again, sad times indeed!

BUT! I have great times ahead to, in two weeks or so my sweetheart finally arrives! I've missed her so much.. And we get to start our travels together, and with other friends as well. The only problem now is to try and save some money for the trip... and with some money, I mean save all the money I have!

I hate that money always stands in the way for living.

Anyway, I'll write some more later, letting you know what I've been doing instead of writing in the blog ;)

kiss and this and that and what?

27m sub and stuff

HEY GUYS!!!

Sorry about the Caps-Lock but here's the story for last weekend, I guess?

I went diving early as hell on the Saturday (6am!) but I slept a bit in the car down to Queenscliff where we geared up and put the boat in the sea!

First spot was on the 27m sub-marine from the second world war, I had some problems with equalizing the pressure in my ears but after a while I managed. The sub-marine was awesome, and the vision was pretty good so all in all it was an awesome dive, even though my problems with my ears.

Picture of the sub ;)

After that dive we went for lunch near a beach, but still in the boat. Luckily Tadd spotted a huge wave that could have capsized our boat and Liz was able to take us out of harms way.
After that incident we went to a reef nearby which was stunningly beautiful, me and my dive buddy Dennis the dane (aka Steve Irwin) just followed the reef steps down. Amazing indeed!

When we got up we got back to the harbor to see if we could go for a third dive, which we could. So we went to a location that is known for its seals, and of course we dived with them! it was a perfect ending of a perfect day of diving, very relaxed just watching the seals swim around us.

We planned to go diving the day after too, but it was way to windy, and the water was brown with no visibility. So we had a beer instead.

I'll update on this weekend tomorrow, if I'm not too hungover... ;)

party on bloglovers!

One more assignment down.

Second assignment done and handed in, feels good. Just need the other two to be done soon so I can enjoy a nice day of not thinking about assignments!

It'll be done soon.

Today was sunny, big like!

I wish I had a guitar around so I could play some, feel like I forgot how to by now... Hope that's not true. Found some on E-Bay that were pretty cheap though, might get one after all.

What else... only three or four weeks left of lectures, then the exams begin and after that. ROADTRIP!!! Biggest LIKE ever... Seriously

hugz and all that

Mid semester "break"...

Hi there peeps.

This week a lot has happend, A LOT!

No not really, most of the students here went travelling during this week. Me and Andy couldn't afford that luxury and we also had assignments to do (still do). So that's what I have been doing this week. Assignments, only done with one of them, got two more due next week...

All in all this week sucked, the lamest week since we got here. I have either been home worrying about assignments or been in school working on them. I have worked on assignments at home to but you know... without success.

I have also played Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of time, pretty much a speed run, AKA relaxation.

Oh yeah, it has been raining a lot too. Boring week. It sucked. I need Caao...

Hopefully I'll have something more fun to write about next time.

Cheers

Well now lets see whats been going on..?

Hi there!

Last time I wrote I had just been diving and spring was right around the corner (if not already there..?)

anyways, the following week after that was pretty much studies and just hanging around, not doing much. I even remember the weekend as being without adventure. But I could be wrong, check out Andy on the other side of the world and see there (he blogs a lot more than I do).

The weekend after that though was VERY exciting, guess what: I'm now a certified advanced open water diver! Congratulations to me, thank you. The weather for that weekend was good, the forecast had promised better weather but what the heck, especially on sunday. The first day we did a underwater naturalist dive, basically an ordinary dive were you're pretty much just reminded not to mess up the nature down there. The second dive was a deep dive so we hade to go out by boat, took about 20-30 minutes to hit our destination. It was a bit windy and some waves that stirred up water making the sight very low, we had about two meters maybe three when we hit the bottom. We, guided by instructor Pete, descended to first 12 meters and then we followed the reef wall down to 26,9 meters depth. We did some exorcises there just to see if we were nitrogen narced, I wasn't *sad panda*. But anyway we ascended up to seven meters made a stop and then 5 meters and a stop for three minutes. At the surface we met up with the boat again and headed back to land :). The deep dive was actually, in my opinion, a bit scary, mostly because the lack of sight, two meters gets kind of creepy as when you look up and cant see the surface!

Anyway the following day had a lot better conditions, very clear sight, nice warm weather and good company of divers. This day we just did practical exorcises, navigation, peak performance bouyancy and search and recover, a long day of fun diving! Can't wait till next time and to go diving with my darling Carolina who's still back home, *sad panda*. Anyway all the dives went great and now I'm certified to go to deep depths if I want to and so on.

Didn't take any pictures of this trip, but again Andy did, check out his blog if you want to see how awesome it was ;).

The week after that (this one) was really dull, the weather was awesome, but I had to do assignments (still do) wich didn't go as good as I wanted but I feel that I should still pass. Oh and by the way, got my first A on a presentation that Sarah Fitzgibbons and I did, nailed it and got 95% (= A). Good job Sarah and me!

But the friday was awesome, we went on a field trip with the wine class to Yarra Valley, one of the largest winery areas here in Victoria (right?) well close to Melbourne in any case. Pretty famous area. Great nature, beautiful scenery and very VERY nice wines. I let the pictures talk for themselves for a bit :)

as you can see we had a great time (we drank a lot of wine, maybe like two or three bottles each ;))

Yesterday me and Andy walked to the shopping center, arrived before the bus we were thinking of taking there. We got some groceries and then got home. Exciting huh?

That evening we ate a family dinner here in the house, very nice :) we should do that more often!

Today I can only think of my love back home, miss you babe. She was the one who talked me into start writing here again :)

Anyway, thats all for now, take care and I'll try to write more often.

Lots of love
//Dennis
